We have known Dr. Cynthia Hernandez since 2017 as an assisting bariatric surgeon to Dr. Zavalza and other well-known bariatric surgeons in Tijuana, Mexico. Being highly esteemed for her surgical skills by her renowned colleagues and her bed-side manner by our patients, she has decided to start her own practice as a full-time independent bariatric surgeon in January 2020. Her experience includes more than 5000 weight loss surgeries performed as a leading or assisting bariatric surgeon as of 2024, including additional abdominal procedures such as gallbladder removal, hernia repairs (often performed together with bariatric surgery), tubal ligation, and others. Dr. Cynthia Hernandez is also one of the few Bariatric Surgeons in Mexico that successfully performs single incision gastric sleeve surgery for low BMI patients, RNY and Mini Gastric Bypass surgery on low and high BMI patients, as well as revision surgeries.
